Monohybrid

Fast Plants® Monohybrid Cross

The Fast Plants® Mendelian monohybrid is based on a specific single recessive gene known as anthocyaninless. Anthocyanin is a purple pigment that is dominant in all Fast Plants®. However, anthocyaninless, anl, when present in the homozygous condition shuts off the expression of anthocyanin on all parts of the plant.

F2 Phenotypic Recombination Classes

The F2 phenotypes listed above are predicted if the mutant allele , anl , is not linked to another trait. Use the F2 segregation data in conjunction with the Chi-squared analysis to estimate the probability that mutant alleles are unlinked or linked. Beyond the Chi-squared analysis the Test Cross is a fundemental criteria for observing possible linkage of alleles.
