Monohybrid Fast Plants® Monohybrid Cross The Fast Plants® Mendelian monohybrid is based on a specific single recessive gene known as anthocyaninless. Anthocyanin is a purple pigment that is dominant in all Fast Plants®. However, anthocyaninless, anl, when present in the homozygous condition shuts off the expression of anthocyanin on all parts of the plant.

The F2 phenotypes listed above are predicted if the mutant allele , anl , is not linked to another trait. Use the F2 segregation data in conjunction with the Chi-squared analysis to estimate the probability that mutant alleles are unlinked or linked. Beyond the Chi-squared analysis the Test Cross is a fundemental criteria for observing possible linkage of alleles.
